We are of the opinion that class attendance is primary to learning and punctuality is the bedrock of discipline. Notwithstanding the 75% attendance laid down by the Educational Board, for admission to their exams as regular candidates, The PEACE is convinced that 100% attendance is absolutely essential for character building and excellence in academics. The rules given below have been laid down to ensure maximum punctuality and regularity of attendance. We expect the parents, guardians and teachers to consider these rules inviolable and they should ensure that students strictly abide by them, under all circumstances:
1. Attendance in class will be recorded twice a day i.e. once immediately after the morning assembly, and then after the tea break.
2. Students reaching the main entry gate even one minute after the starting time of the Morning Assembly/First period (time taken from the main tower clock) will be sent back to their homes and the parents/guardians intimated accordingly.
3. Leave asked verbally, whether on telephone or in person, will not be granted/allowed. Therefore, any such request must be written in ink, or typed and signed by the parent/guardian and submitted well before the time/day of leave.
4. Application for medical or emergency leave must be delivered personally by the parent/guardian within two days of the sickness or emergency. Request for medical leave must be accompanied by the doctor’s prescription and medical certificate, to eliminate the chances of malingering.
5. Names of students absenting themselves without valid reason for three (03) consecutive days or a broken period of five (05) days or more, in one academic session are liable to be struck off from the school/college roll; they will have to seek re-admission. Second such absence will warrant expulsion.
6. Besides the heavy fine and fee for readmission, the student may also suffer in academics, due to absence from classes and even the Term examinations during the process of readmission. Since the marks of each terminal examination in a session also contribute to the overall score of the Final Term Examination, the students will be hard pressed to meet the merit laid down for the promotion to higher class or admission o the Board examination at the end of the academic year, if they have not done well in the terminal examination.
7. Students of Board classes’ i-e IX, X, XI, XII who are frequently absent themselves from the classes, during any term will NOT be allowed to continue their studies in the school/college and their admission form will not be sent for the Board examination under any circumstances. In case the admission form has already been sent to the Board, the same will be withdrawn and the student will not be allowed to take the examination as a regular student of THE PEACE COLLEGE.
8. A fine of Rs. 100/- to Rs. 2000/- per day is levied for absence without leave in case of a day scholar, and Rs. 1000/- to Rs. 2000/- per day in case of boarders. For college students, these fines may be doubled or even tripled on special occasions when attendance is crucial for studies and character building i.e. immediately before or after vacation, holidays and leave, or during the prep before examinations, Winter camp, and Preps.
